Kingston, 8 August 2025 – The Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport, the Honourable Olivia Grange, has announced that a Service of Thanksgiving for the life of the former Jamaican boxer Mike McCallum will be held next week Saturday, August 16.

The service will take place at Holy Trinity Cathedral at North Street beginning at 10am. Members of the public may view the body at the church beginning at 9am.

McCallum, who was Jamaica’s greatest boxer, won world titles in three weight classes — light middleweight, middleweight and light heavyweight.

He died on May 31 in Las Vegas at the age of 68.

His body arrived in the island today ahead of next week’s Thanksgiving Service in Kingston.

Two similar services were held overseas.
