Kingston, 12 August 2026 – The Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport, the Honourable Olivia Grange is re-assuring the nation that the new black, green and gold track at the National Stadium is “not only certified, but certified as a Class One facility by World Athletics.”
According to Minister Grange:
“World Athletics sent to us notification of the level of certification for the National Stadium in June this year, and I advised the nation accordingly in the Sectoral Debate in Parliament. I repeat the main statement in the notice: ‘All synthetic surface field test measurements comply with WA [World Athletic] requirements.’ This position remains.
“I advise the country once more that the black, green and gold track — a symbol of national pride and excellence — meets the requirements of World Athletics and is certified at the highest level with the accompanying assurances that performances on the track at the National Stadium will be fully recognised.”
